CAM Sponsors Gloucester Pool Player Richard Gifford

A Gloucestershire-based pool player is being tipped by CAM as a prospective World Champion through a sponsorship agreement for the 2022 season, as part of its ongoing CSR and brand awareness programme.

36-year-old Richard Gifford, who is currently ranked 16th for the 2022 world championships, has had a string of strong performances, including finishing second at the World Team Championship competing for Wales in 2018, and, most recently, missing out on the quarter finals of the Ultimate Pool Pairs Cup, as he and his partner were in one of the most hotly contested groups in the tournament.

The sponsorship agreement with CAM will enable Richard to focus on his cue skills, so he can achieve his aim of finishing in the top 16 of the Ultimate Pool Challenger Series that will see him granted pro status for the 2023 season.

Ryan Naughton, director of operations of CAM, says, “Pool is a growing sport both in the UK and around the world, so we’re delighted to support one of the UK’s top players. We see that Richard has a lot of potential and hope our sponsorship will help propel him up the rankings and towards some great results at the major tournaments.”

Richard Gifford adds, “I’m delighted to have the backing of CAM and its support will enable me to invest in my development as a pool player. This means I will be able to spend more time on the practice table working on situational play that will lead to me having the confidence to achieve the best results I can during the Ultimate Pool Challenger Series and the European and World Championships.”
