CAM-Sponsored Richard Gifford heads to the World Eightball Pool Federation Championship

CAM-sponsored Richard Gifford is heading to the prestigious World Eightball Pool Federation championship in Killarney, Ireland between 19th and 27th October 2022.

Riding high following his recent win at the Welsh Open, Gifford is hoping to retain his current run of good form.

“The Welsh Open started a little slow, but overall I played ok. I did what I needed to do and beat the 64-man field, coming out Welsh Open Men’s Singles winner!”

Gifford’s game plan for the upcoming World Eightball Pool Federation championship is as practical, as his recent Welsh Open win is modest.

“I am feeling a lot more confident after the Welsh Open. But my strategy is still the same. Play the balls and take the chances when they come.”

As a 2017 quarter-finalist at the World Eightball Pool Federation championship, Gifford is aiming to beat his previous record. Currently ranking 18th, Gifford has everything to play for as he competes in the Men’s Masters, the Men’s Doubles alongside fellow Welsh player Spencer Jones, in the Men’s Welsh team and in the 11 nation Team Shootout.

CAM-sponsored Dan Zelos in final race weekend of the MINI championship & his BTCC plans for 2023
Dan Zelos

As CAM-sponsored Dan Zelos heads into the final race weekend of the MINI championship, he’s been reflecting on a mixed season that he describes as plagued by “bad luck”.

“As we head to Brands Hatch I’m looking forward to ending the season on a high.”

“It has been a proud season to carry the #1 on my car. But hopefully, the bad luck is behind us and we get some results that my team, most importantly my mechanic deserves for all the blood, sweat and tears we have gone through this season.”

In the penultimate race of the season at Silverstone, Zelos experienced a front tyre puncture and race 3 came to an abrupt ending. As the Operations Manager at a group of tyre wholesale depots, it’s hard to miss the irony that it’s the MINI’s tyres that have been giving Zelos trouble through the 2022 season.

“The new tyre compound that was introduced this season has not been a tyre my driving style suits. I always push to the car’s limits and this tyre doesn’t like that too much.”

Despite the odds, Zelos’ optimism remains tangible and it’s no surprise when he has such exciting racing ambitions in development.

“We are getting closer to making my dreams come true. I’m fully focused on getting a British Touring Car Championship seat for next season!”
