CAM Green Back on the Championship-Leading Zelos Mini

Redgate Corner at Donnington was the final resting place of the CAM-branded Dan Zelos’ #45 motorcar during the April weekend of the Vertu Motors MINI CHALLENGE. Fast forward 6 races and the EXCELR8 driver is hoping his newfound race mojo plans to stay for the next round of racing this weekend at Oulton Park.

The 2022 race season that Zelos described as “one hell of a bumpy ride to say the least” led Dan to choose a 2023 race strategy that brought him back to focus on his love of racing, as he explains.

“We began the year with the motto ‘back to basics’. Putting no pressure on. Enjoying the driving experience. It’s really helped me find my feet.”

With the exception of the crash at Donnington that wrote off the CAM-branded vehicle, Zelos has been on winning form securing 3 further race wins in the spare JCW-built car that quickly replaced the original #DZ45. Given the recent run of good form, Zelos feels the new car is the right fit.

“We’ve decided to stick with the same car. It’s not worth swapping to a new car, because you run the risk of introducing mechanical issues. If it’s working, don’t fix it.”

Keeping the replacement car has meant the new DZ45 has been returned to its former’s glory and is now back to sporting its eye-catching CAM green stripe. Best dressed and current championship leader, Zelos has high hopes for this weekend at Oulton Park.

“I am back to leading the Vertu Motors MINI CHALLENGE Championship and hopefully, Oulton Park will give me the chance to extend the gap. It’s normally a track I’m successful at. Plus I’m in pole position, so I just need to get out there really and smash it!”

CAM-Sponsored Gifford Prepares for Rounds 5 & 6 of Ultimate Pool

It’s been a busy few months for CAM-sponsored Richard Gifford, as he’s been making preparations for the next rounds of Ultimate Pool, held this weekend in Blackpool.

As well as undertaking his regular pre-match intensive practice on the baize, Gifford has upped the ante, now also adding gym time and healthy eating to his match preparations. Gifford explains more.

“Match days are long days. Especially if you’re winning. 12 hours of back-to-back competitive pool really tests your stamina. Improving my physical fitness will hopefully build my match day resilience and help me avoid the late afternoon slump.”

In the last Ultimate Pool weekend back in March, Gifford made it through to the last 32, losing against Jamie Burnett who went on to make it through to the final.

“I’m hoping my new healthier lifestyle will give me the edge that I’ve been missing. I’m also banking on it helping with the heat in Morocco when I play in the Pool World Championships later next month.”

Representing Wales in the Pool World Championship starting July 2nd, Gifford will compete in the World Singles, World Doubles with Mike Quinn, the World Team Championship and the Shootout. More on Gifford at the Moroccan World Championship later this month.

Commercial Tyre Services Bristol integrates CAM’s Fitter-Force

Commercial Tyre Services Bristol is going digital for the first time with the integration of CAM’s Fitter-Force into its business. This will enable the provider to go paperless and introduce connectivity options with the four major tyre manufacturers participating on the network, principally through its adoption of e-jobsheet.

Founded on the e-jobsheet multi-language, digital tablet-driven work exchange for truck, bus and van tyres, the Fitter-Force platform removes many back-office costs and inaccuracies associated with the manual completion of service work for small to medium-sized fleet tyre service operators, while also improving customer service through operational responsiveness.

Vincent Fitzpatrick, managing director of Commercial Tyre Services Bristol, said: “As this is the first time we have introduced a software solutions system into our business we wanted to make sure it was fit for purpose and the right technology for us. By digitising the job cards and associated admin through seamless connectivity with the different manufacturers we do work for, we will provide a more accurate and efficient service to our customers.”

Steve Daly, director of CAM, commented: “For Commercial Tyre Services Bristol this was connected digitisation in a box, as connectivity to tyre manufacturers and going paperless was high on the business’s agenda to enable it to continue to compete effectively with bigger players.”
