CAM backed Dan Zelos crowned the 2021 Mini Challenge Champion

The 2021 Mini Challenge race season this week concluded with a tense finale for CAM sponsored Dan Zelos. The penultimate race weekend at Donnington Park left Zelos at the top of the driver standings, but with a four point margin and everything to race for.

The three race weekend at Brands Hatch looked set to be the championship decider and qualifying ninth meant Zelos was going to have to dig deep. Day one, race one Dan secured a runner up spot and a one-point lead going into the final race day.

Day two at Brands Hatch and race two saw Zelos hold off Max Coates for a fourth place and just three points to secure the championship win.

The final race of the season was a heart stopper all the way to the chequered flag, but Zelos took the title of championship winner by narrowly securing a second place.

“What a rollercoaster ride!” reflected Zelos. “To now be the one lifting the big trophy is crazy. It hasn’t sunk in yet what we’ve achieved.”

“Winning a championship can’t be done by one person, I’m a very small part of a massive jigsaw puzzle. Yesterday we completed that puzzle, and damn does it feel good.”
